RAINSTORM BIRTHDAY PHOTO WALK

Thurs Aug 1ST, 6PM 2024

Guided photowalk with Not Quite Light & Emma Fox

THE FAMOUS PHOTOGRAPH ‘RAINSTORM’ IS 5 YEARS OLD ON AUGUST 1ST 2024!

On a wet August evening 5 years ago, a photograph was taken of Manchester that went viral, retweeted by the actor Stephen Fry and Illusionist Derren Brown, amongst many others. It’s a photograph that has now travelled the globe and is on someone’s wall in every continent of the world.

To celebrate the taking of this picture, join artist Simon Buckley ( aka Not Quite Light ) on a guided photo walk around the area that the photograph was taken.

The walk will begin at 6pm, the moment the picture was posted for the first time. He will show you the spot where the image was taken from, talk about the moments leading up to its capture, and also discuss the changes to the city since Rainstorm entered the world.

Joinging him for the walk will be the brilliant local guide Emma Fox, who will take us around the area, discussing its history, telling stories of best selling music, transport and time revolutions, potatoes, Roman soldiers, the birth of Manchester, a viaduct garden, the
Garrison pub and much more.

Everyone taking part in this celebratory walk will receive a free A4 digital print, with a handwritten message on the back from the artist.

Meet outside Atlas Bar, Castlefield.

REFUNDS:

Refunds will be issued up to 48hrs before the event. After this time, no refunds will be issued unless the ticket can be re-sold.
