COLD FISH SOUP

cold fish soup by adam farrer

Since the start of the year I’ve been collaborationg with writer Adam Farrer on a project we’ve called ‘The Loss of England’. Adam has just released his first book ‘Cold Fish Soup’ and the film will feature his writing.

In celebration of the release of his acclaimed book, I’ve created a trailer using film and sound from ‘The Loss of England’, with Adam reading an extract from a chapter entitled ‘Death Takes a Holiday’. It’s a beautiful book, full of wit and emotion, from his time as teenager living in a town that is gradually falling into the sea.

I used to go to Withernsea with my mum and nana as a young boy, loving the strange, flat landscape that I witnessed from the top floor of a deep blue East Yorkshire double decker bus.

The Loss of England will become a longer film featuring more of Adam’s writing, poems by Dean Wilson and the regulars at the Sunshine Caf. You can hear more on my Reform Radio show.
